About Wayside Chapel

Wayside Chapel began in 1963 under the Lord’s direction and a mission to reach Bucyrus, Crawford County, the surrounding communities, and the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. That mission still exists today as Wayside Chapel desires to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as we upwardly worship Christ, inwardly love and care for Christ’s people, and outwardly share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the glory of God.

Wayside Chapel is a friendly, non-denominational church that by God’s grace and work encourages each person to be committed to Christ (Col. 2:6-7), eager for the Word (1 Pet. 2:2), reliant on God’s work (1 Cor. 3:5-9), edified by fellowship (Eph. 4:11-16), inspired to worship (Rev. 5:11-14), passionate to serve (Gal. 6:9-10), diligent in prayer (Col. 1:9-14), and motivated for outreach (Matt. 9:36-38).

We preach and teach the Word of God unashamedly, worship Christ in spirit and in truth corporately, provide spiritual nourishment for all ages, administer the two ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and support missions and missionaries both locally and globally.

Since 1973 Wayside Chapel has ministered to our local community by providing quality Christian education through Wayside Christian School. With classes for K4-12th grade, WCS exists to assist families in the equipping of their children to achieve academic excellence, to make biblically based decisions, and to exemplify and serve Christ. Consider joining with us as we all “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

Christ with us, Christ before us, Christ behind us, Christ in us, Christ in the heart of every one who thinks of us, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of us, Christ in every eye that sees us, Christ in every ear that hears us.

Our sermons

The preaching and teaching of God’s Word at Wayside Chapel is generally a week-by-week consecutive exposition of Scripture through a whole book or section of the Bible. Our goal is not to preach ourselves, but to preach Christ Jesus the Lord (2 Cor. 4:5) so that each person will be equipped to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).

Current Sunday Morning Sermon Series

Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:30 as we discover the grace and truth that Jesus offers in the Gospel of John. John tells us that he wrote this gospel that we may believe in Jesus unto eternal life. Repeatedly in John, we are called to respond to Jesus. Do you accept Him or do you reject Him?
